Elimination diet for dogs: The tolerable way without compromises

How an elimination diet can help rethink feeding – and introduce our recipes in a targeted and safe way.

When is an elimination diet useful – and when is it not?

An elimination diet is a well-founded and proven method for systematically investigating intolerances or allergies in dogs. It is not always necessary, but in some cases very useful.

For example, in the case of:

chronic itching or skin changes

recurring diarrhea or soft stools

unusual behavior after eating

longer odyssey through various types of food

the desire to avoid hydrolyzed food

The goal is not to make a medical diagnosis, but to give the dog a break – and then to choose a food that really suits him.

And then what? What happens after the elimination diet?

It's often recommended to cook for your dog yourself after a successful elimination diet. And sure – the theory sounds good: individualized, fresh, and tailored. But in reality, everyday life is rarely so predictable. Not everyone has the time to prepare exactly the right ingredients in the right amounts every day. And small mistakes – like too much fat, missing supplements, or uneven preparation – can quickly lead to setbacks in sensitive dogs.

This is exactly where Daily Dose comes in.

Our formulas are designed to be seamlessly integrated after an elimination diet – professionally manufactured, carefully structured, and easy to use.

Daily Dose's recipes were deliberately developed to be minimalist and transparent – for dogs that need more than standard food.

Single protein – no mixed meat, low fat content – ideal for sensitive dogs.

The process – step by step – to match our menu

First, choose a protein source that your dog tolerates well (e.g., horse → Hufeisenglück ). Refer to the ingredient list of your chosen meal for guidance.

  • Start with protein – feed exclusively the chosen protein source and observe digestion, skin, and behavior.

  • Add carbohydrates one at a time – only those carbohydrates that are already included in the menu (e.g., potatoes, sweet potatoes, or pearl barley). Test each new ingredient alone for 1–2 weeks.

  • Add vegetables one after the other – again only the vegetables from the menu (e.g. zucchini, carrots), one after the other with an observation phase.

Quick tip: Note down the date, ingredients and observations – or download our wellness diary to keep track.

For which dogs are our recipes particularly suitable?

suitable?

Our menus are deliberately designed to be very well tolerated even by dogs with special needs – e.g.

  • sensitive digestion

  • skin or coat problems

  • known intolerances or allergies

  • special needs due to their history, illness, or stage of life

Conclusion: Suitable for everyday use. Clear. Tolerable.

An elimination diet can be the first step towards a more relaxed daily routine when it comes to feeding – if it's done systematically. Daily Dose then offers exactly what's needed: food that provides clarity, respects your dog's needs, and makes everyday life easier. No hidden additives. No artificial preservatives. No compromises. Simply honest, easily digestible dog food – for everyone who truly wants to understand their dog.

Your dog's daily dose of health and love
